What should I wear?
It's best to wear something comfortable that allows free
movement. Clothing that is too tight, or shorts and skirts
that are too short will inhibit your movement and be difficult
to dance in. Your instructors follow a fairly rigorous dress
code, but feel free to dress comfortably, khakis or jeans are
fine.
What shoes are best?
While ballroom shoes are wonderful and ultimately a great
purchase for an interested dancer, the more novice dancer
might want to start with a good pair of leather-soled dress
shoes (not shoes with black or rubber bottoms). Ballet
slippers, jazz or character shoes are usually good. Tennis shoes, flip flops,
clogs, chunky heels, or rubber-soled shoes are not good to
dance in. For ladies, choose a shoe that will not slide off
and has either a leather or suede type sole. Heels are not
necessary- just make sure they're comfortable and you can
easily walk and move in them. Do I need a partner?
You do not need a partner for classes. There will be frequent
partner rotation during the classes. In fact, you learn better
by dancing with different people. You will probably dance with
nearly everyone in the class. Even if you compete, for your
first few competitions, the club will do what it can to make
sure you have someone to dance with.
What if I've never danced
before?
Then you're in the right place. If you were already a pro, you
wouldn't need us! Our staff and class schedules are designed
to accommodate both brand new dancers as well as those more
experienced. The best place to start is with one of our
introductory packages and our Newcomer Series of
group classes.
What are all these names
of dances?
There are likely several dances in our curriculum that you've
never heard of. In these you may find your favorite dance, or
you may decide there are certain dances you're not interested
in learning. If you've never taken a particular type of dance
before, our Newcomer Series of group classes is a great place
to start and be introduced to various dance styles like Swing,
Latin and smooth Social dancing. You can also ask one of our
Let's Dance instructors for some guidance and information on
various styles.
What dances do you offer?
Let's Dance offers private lessons and group classes in a
variety of dance styles, including American Ballroom,
International Ballroom, Nightclub Dances, Swing/Shag and Latin
Styles.
